South African Target Rifle Association
ABOUT US

The South African Target Rifle Association is a National Association that was started prior to 1942 and has a long and rich shooting history.
Target Rifle shooting is a fun, safe, competitive outdoor and indoor sport for the whole family. Target rifle shooting requires a great level of focus, self-discipline, and physical fitness. Most importantly, it is not a sport that is exclusive to or dominated by any one social group; participants range in age, gender, race, career, industry, and even physical ability.
SATRA's activities include the following:
-
Small-bore rifle shooting using .22 caliber firing at paper or electronic targets at distances of up to 100 meters, based on ISSF prone and 3P (prone, kneeling and standing)
-
Target shooting at 300 meters with a full-bore rifle, based ISSF any caliber 6 - 8 mm
-
Air rifle shooting at 10 meters and three different positions
-
PCP from 50 to 100m.
Open peep sights are used in classes A, B, and C. We also have an FX and F-class using telescopes and a H-class for hunting rifles. The Newest Edition is PCP Class for Pneumatic air rifles up to.22 Calibre.
Your average score for the year determines your class.
